## Dirty surfaces and antimicrobial coatings

Dirt on a surface can reduce the effectiveness of antimicrobial coatings. Applying an AMC to a dirty surface can cause it to bond with the dirt rather than the intended area, reducing the antimicrobial activity. Therefore, it’s essential to thoroughly clean surfaces before applying the coating.

Abrasive or caustic cleaners may also shorten the useful life of an antimicrobial coating.
